HELP 4 KIDS

Healthy Emotional Literacy Program (H.E.L.P 4 KIDS): Grief Support and Wellbeing Workshop for Teachers

Duration: 1 Hour (Online)

This 1-hour online workshop is specifically designed to provide teachers with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to support grieving students and promote emotional wellbeing in the classroom. The session covers key areas of childhood grief, emotional literacy, and resilience, while also introducing Feel the Magic - a program offering free camps for bereaved children aged 7 - 17.

Workshop Overview:

* Introduction to Feel the Magic’s Free Camps: Learn about Feel the Magic's camps, which are dedicated to supporting bereaved children and providing them with tools to navigate their grief.
* Understanding Childhood Grief: Gain insights into how grief uniquely impacts children and discover best practices for offering compassionate and effective support in the classroom.
* Emotional Wellbeing and Resilience: Explore strategies to enhance emotional literacy, build resilience, and foster overall emotional wellbeing in students, especially those dealing with grief.

Intended Outcomes for Teachers:

Aligned with the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers, this workshop supports the following outcomes:

Standard 4: Create and Maintain Supportive and Safe Learning Environments
- Focus on supporting student participation and engagement
- Effective management of challenging behaviours
- Ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all students

Standard 6: Engage in Professional Learning
- Focus on continuous professional development and improving teaching practices, particularly in supporting students dealing with grief

- Standard 7: Engage Professionally with Colleagues, Parents/Carers, and the Community
- Focus on ethical responsibilities and professional conduct
- Building strong relationships with parents and carers
- Engaging with professional teaching networks and the wider community to support students

This workshop empowers teachers to better understand and support grieving students, fostering emotional resilience and wellbeing in the classroom. Teachers will leave with practical strategies they can implement immediately to help students navigate grief and emotional challenges, creating a compassionate and safe learning environment.
