Grief & Bereavement Workshop For Parent & Carers
Supporting Parents and Guardians
The Feel the Magic® Parent and Guardian Workshop is an emotional literacy program that encourages parents to develop a dialogue and an understanding that tunes into their child’s feelings, behaviours and stages of adjustment through their grieving journey.
It’s a safe place for parents to be guided through their grief whilst parenting grieving children and teens. The program explores the stages of grief using the seasons analogy and how this is helpful in learning to gauge their child’s emotions. Parents and guardians also have the opportunity to meet others in similar situations and much like the children, connect on a level that few others can.
As a result, the Parent and Guardian Workshop has been created to assist parents to learn how to communicate with their family about each other’s grief and to create a stronger family unit as they together move forward into the next phase of their lives.
The Parent and Guardian Workshop is available to parents and guardians of children or teens attending the Camp Magic® program. The 4-hour workshop is broken up into two sessions over each Camp Magic® weekend. Facilitated by a Feel the Magic® psychologist, the first session of the workshop will commence on the Friday of camp once drop off is complete. The second session will take place on the Sunday before the camp closing ceremony.
Parents and guardians will be eligible to register for the workshop once their child’s position at camp is confirmed.
If you wish to submit an application for your child to attend a Camp Magic® program you can do so by clicking on the camper application button below.
We look forward to working with you and supporting your family through your grief experience.
