Volunteer Profile – Scott White
How many camps have you attended?
Why do you volunteer for Feel the Magic®?
There’s such a euphoric feeling to helping people, especially children. The look on their face when it all clicks is priceless and the memories and friendships you create, make all the emotions you ride in the process worth it.
What is your favourite season and why?
Spring. It brings hope, and with it comes a sudden realisation that, although nothing will ever be the same again, we can learn to live with, and grow through our grief.
What’s the best piece of advice you’ve heard about grief?
That grief is personal and that it is yours and yours alone.
What inspires you about our campers?
Their bravery. I’ve heard before that they have gone through the hardest thing they’ll ever have to go through, but exploring their emotions and grief in front of what is usually a group of strangers has to be pretty close too. These kids will be the faces that change the way we view grief in this country.
A final note from Scott:
Nothing can top the high I get from attending Camp. But having friends from outside Camp enquire about Feel The Magic and how they can volunteer comes pretty damn close.
